Tuncay Says Goodbye To Old Friends

tuncay_ziyaret2.jpgTUNCAY SANLI dropped in at pre-season season training to say goodbye to his Fenerbahce team-mates as he awaits the granting of a work permit which will allow him to join up with Boro. Like Gareth Southgate’s men, the Turkish champions are back at work this week after their summer break. Tuncay visited his friends at the Samandira Training Facility, where he famously once lived, helping gain his legendary status with the club’s fans as evidence of his dedication to the cause.

The 25-year-old wished the players the best of luck for the forthcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, new signing Gökcek Vederson is steeling himself for the daunting task of filling the former fans’ favourite’s shoes.

“Tuncay is a very talented footballer, everyone knows and respects what he has achieved,” he told the club’s website.

“He was so passionate and the fans loved him a lot. If my coach wants me to play in Tuncay’s position, I guarantee you all that you are not going to miss Tuncay.

“It’s a huge responsibility but I will try to do my best.”

UK employment law means Tuncay must return to his homeland after signing his contract while the necessary paperwork is processed. Boro hope he will cleared in time to join his new team-mates on their pre-season tour of Austria.
