Middlesbrough FC ended Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 win at the Riverside on Sunday.A Stewart Downing penalty and a Tuncay Sanli strike, his second in two games, earned the Teessiders the win - their first in the Premier League since September 1 - and also denied the Gunners the chance to stretch their one-point lead at the top of the table.

Tuncay Sanli scored his first goal in Boro colours but a late Sunderland goal dropped Boro into the bottom three, writes GORDON COX from the Madejski Stadium.Gareth Southgate made three changes from the side that lost to Villa as Mark Schwarzer (broken thumb) and Gary O’Neil (illness) missed the game and Lee Cattermole, carrying a slight ankle injury, dropped to the bench.

Tuncay Sanli was in the starting line-up for the first time for Boro but Jeremie Aliadiere, Stewart Downing, Julio Arca and Chris Riggott were not risked after picking up slight knocks.
The Germans were backed by a healthy following while Boro had just a handful of fans, but the Teessiders made their voices heard as ever as they went through the full Riverside repertoire.
